Barrelmans Point
Barrelmans Point is a 60-acre waterside residential development on the former HMS Ganges site on the Shotley Peninsula near Ipswich. Built in joint venture with Wavensmere Homes, the scheme will deliver 295 new houses.
The development
Barrelmans Point spans 60 acres on the Shotley Peninsula overlooking the Suffolk coastline. The development transforms the historic former HMS Ganges naval training base into a residential community of 295 two-, three-, four-, and five-bedroom homes.
The individual houses feature traditional design details alongside energy-efficient features, such as air source heat pumps and EV charging points. Phase one includes an initial release of 81 homes in semi-detached and detached configurations.
The development retains historic site elements, including a restored ceremonial mast and repurposed central buildings that house resident facilities. On-site amenities planned for the site include a gymnasium, screening room, co-working space, café, and library.
